Yorkshire Water to Invest £1.3m to Reduce Storm Overflows

August 27, 2024 News 0

Yorkshire Water is investing £1.3m in Temple Normanton to lower the amount of storm overflows into Muster Brook, a tributary of the river Rother. This investment is expected to reduce storm overflow discharges by more than 60% as estimated in 2021 and is part of Yorkshire Water’s current £180m investment to reduce storm overflows across Yorkshire.

The construction of a 390m surface water sewer will take place to take the rainwater and other surface water from Springwood Street. The water utility has also requested permission to set up a perforated surface water sewer running through a sustainable drainage system (SuDS) – Hydroplanter, to slow the flow of water to the treatment works.
