Anglian Water Invests £45m to Improve River Water Quality

Anglian Water has invested £45m through the installation of new equipment to improve water quality in rivers in Lincolnshire. The water company is keen on upgrading water recycling centres across the region to remove phosphorous from wastewater. Large amounts of phosphorus enter water sources through agricultural sources as well as from household waste.

Anglian Water had the largest increase in raw sewage discharge into the water sources in 2023. The water company has mentioned that this was because they now monitored 100% of all discharges and heavy rains in 2023 led to overflowing sewers.
