Water-cleaning insects, smart sewage batteries and chemical-busting bubbles among finalists of £7.5 million Water Discovery Challenge
Ofwat has announced the twenty innovative projects that have been named finalists of the Water Innovation Fund’s second Water Discovery Challenge.
Projects range from microscopic insects capable of cleaning wastewater, to imagery taken from space to detect problematic toxins before they enter waterways, and smart batteries to prevent sewage spills.
Each finalist has received up to £100,000 in seed funding, the first of a total £7.5 million to be awarded by the challenge over 20 months.
