Scottish Water: “The End of Endless Water” – Climate Change is Rewriting Scotland’s Water Future

We invite you to read this latest blog by Deirdre Michie, Chair of Scottish Water, warning that the long-held idea of Scotland’s water being “endless” is under threat. Drier springs in the east, historic low reservoir levels, intense downpours, and pressures on water quality are already showing how climate change is reshaping water supply reliability.

To respond, Scottish Water is making large investments — upgrading infrastructure, restoring peatlands and wetlands, improving nature-based solutions, and promoting water stewardship among communities.
Deirdre Michie stresses that adaptation will require both major capital investment and widespread behaviour change to make every drop matters.
